Learning by Teaching Principles Core Components
- Step by Step Learning Participants learn information in “chunks” or pieces.
- Show Participant learns skills through the use of visuals or props. Culturally appropriate graphics and examples are used. Addresses visual learner’s needs
- Tell Emphasis is on:
- “How to” instead of “what”
- Reinforcing key themes
- Using common words and explaining meaning of more complex words
- Do Participants are engaged in the learning process through examples and participation via questions (true/false, multiple choice) that reinforce learning objectives. Using tangible instead of abstract examples help participants “translate” nutrition information into action.
